The Annual 2009 Windy City Cup Presented By Ifpa To Occur At Chicago’s Navy Pier®

The International Footbag Players Association announces the 2009 Windy City Cup to occur on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the landmark tourist site Chicago Navy Pier. The Windy City Cup is one of the premiere annual Footbag Net tournaments in the world.

Chicago, IL  --The International Footbag Players Association proudly announces the 2009 Windy City Cup to occur on Sunday, June 14, 2009, at the prestigious landmark tourist site, Chicago Navy Pier®. The 2009 Windy City Cup is one of the premiere annual Footbag Net tournaments in the world.  

The Windy City Cup Finals will take place from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the entrance to Navy Pier®, between Grand Ave. and Illinois St., east of Lake Shore Drive.

Preliminary competitions will begin June 12th and 13th in Chicago. Many of the sport’s top players have committed to attend this year’s event. Competitors from all over the globe will converge on Sunday at Navy Pier®, to battle it out for bragging rights and the chance to have their name forever etched into the history of the tournament’s travelling prize, the Windy City Cup.  

Footbag Net may best be described as volleyball with your feet. The game is played in a singles or doubles variety; and competitors dig, set, and spike the ball with their feet over a five ft. high net on a court that is 44' x 20'. Matches are best of three sets to fifteen points. For more information about the sport, please check out the reference section at www.footbag.org.

This event is open to the public and free to spectators!  Families and folks of all ages are invited to come by and check it out!  Bleachers will be available alongside excellent concession options.  Enjoy a day along the lakefront in the sunshine and cheer on our local athletic talent!
