WOODLAND PARK, COLORADO – Woodland Park Hockey Association (WPHA) is pleased to announce that it has been formally established. Provisional Board mandate is to initiate a tax exempt educational association (501(c)(3) (WPHA) with membership by-laws, board of directors, etc, and establish a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the City to create and organize a “Cooperative Hockey Program.” The Provisional Board has 120 days to meet objectives and establish WPHA organization.
To establish WPHA in early March 2009, more than five dozen people interested in Woodland Park hockey assembled to discuss the future of the sport in the community. At that meeting a WPHA “Steering Committee” comprised of volunteers was formed. The Steering Committee’s assignment was simply to take a comprehensive look at the status of hockey in the Woodland Park/ Teller County area and report back to the community at large the issues and recommendations found. The Steering Committee met six times. In addition, the committee broke down into sub-groups to focus on specific topic areas in more detail. The sub-groups included: “Association,”
“Woodland Park and Victor have had a proud history of youth hockey for many years. This election and establishment of the Woodland Park Hockey Association shows the enthusiasm the community has to mature and grow hockey in the region. This is an exciting time, because the community has come together to provide opportunity for our youth. This is all about opportunity.”

The Woodland Park Hockey Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and encouragement of amateur hockey for Woodland Park and the greater Teller County area. We strive to develop character, integrity, teamwork and above all sportsmanship. We will teach our youth the importance of respect for their coaches, teammates, opposing players and officials. The Association shall educate our membership and the public on the fundamentals and goals of amateur hockey while developing a proud and supportive hockey community.
