May 6, 2009 - PRLog -- The Pacifica Institute in conjunction with the Bay Area Cultural Connection will be organizing the 4th Annual International Children's Festival that will take place at the Golden Gate Park, in San Francisco on Saturday, May 9th between 12pm and 5pm. The event will be held at the Music Concourse Bandshell Area that sits between the two world-famous museums; namely The California Academy of Sciences and De Young Museum.
Admission is Free and the Program Highlights for a day of fun and cultural awareness at the picturesque location are as follows:
Multi Cultural Dance
The event will feature various dance programs that will bring to the fore the rich cultural diversity within the Bay Area Community.  Local and public school children will display their artistry in traditional dances from all over the world.
A number of dances such as Bosnian, Scottish, Indian, Korean, Hawaiian, Mexican and Azebaijanian will be performed. There will also be on display the traditional folk dances of Turkey such as Halay, Horon, Zeybek are to be performed which celebrates the spirit and culture of Turkey as also the joyous rhythms and melodies that the country is so well known for.
Lip Smacking Turkish Delicacies:
Turkish food is one of the country’s best known cultural exports and a lavish Turkish spread will be an incentive for visitors to the International Children’s Festival. Baklava, Kabobs, Manti (Turkish ravioli), Stuffed Grape Leaves and Turkish coffee are just some of the mouth watering treats in store.
The recent Anatolian Cultures & Food Festival, that was organized by the Pacifica Institute from April 2 to 5 drew about 30,000 people to the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. The LA Times article that covered the event talked about dondurma, Turkish ‘sticky’ ice cream that was such a big hit at the food festival. Turkish ice cream is so unique that once an American ice cream chain once tried opening in Turkey but had to give up, because the Turks weren't interested in ice cream that “changes its shape when it melts”!
