April 29, 2009 - PRLog -- SAN FRANCISCO – Girls in Tech, the premier social network enterprise focused on the empowerment of women in technology, has announced that it has joined the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Entrepreneurial Alliance. NCWIT leverages the work of organizations across the country to identify and implement best practices for recruiting, retaining and advancing women in the technology industry. Through support for its Alliance members, whose programs include outreach, retention, curriculum reform, research, leadership, and image programs, NCWIT impacts girls and women from K-12 and higher education through industry and academic careers
.
“Becoming a part of NCWIT is a great honor; the coalition represents the best of the best in technology, and we are proud to be working alongside organizations like Apple, Google and the Anita Borg Institute for Women in Technology,” said Adriana Gascoigne, founder, Girls in Tech. “One of our main tenets is to increase the number of women entrepreneurs in technology, and by working with NCWIT’s Entrepreneurial Alliance, we can provide even more support and encouragement to those looking to take the next step in starting their own IT business.”

The NCWIT Entrepreneurial Alliance addresses the causes and interventions concerning the small number of women involved in starting businesses, filing patents, and transferring technology in the IT field as its member organizations work to increase women's representation. Girls in Tech joins more than 20 other leading organizations to provide advice, insight and assistance to female entrepreneurs.

“Girls in Tech is a natural fit with our coalition, and we anticipate that its participation in our Alliance will promote entrepreneurialism among women in technology fields nationwide,” said Baat Enosh, NCWIT Entrepreneurial Alliance Program Manager.
