China is an undisputed leader in the hydropower sector with total cumulative capacity of 146 GW at the end of 2008. The country has immense growth potential in the hydroelectric sector. Over the last five years, there has been a strong interest in the development of ocean, tidal and wave energy as a source for power generation.
