April 14, 2009 - PRLog -- The 2009 CNC VMC model 1610L from Mikini Mechatronics is now available with the Mikini machine control system 2.0. The new control system features a larger DRO screen and additional functionality. This control upgrade in concert with several new features further enhance the value and performance of the 1610L platform.

The Mikini 1610L only requires 3 by 5 feet of floor space and weighs only 2,000 lbs. It has a 16” x 10” x 16” working envelope, and has been designed to be stiff and precise, exceeding the performance of machinery that weighs and costs much more. It has been cast from 35KSI low silicon grey cast iron which is aged and thermally relieved. A fully trussed internal structure cuts the weight by over 60% for major castings. A 3 hp brushless linear DC spindle spins at over 5000 RPM. Precision H class Linear rail motion and Ground C3 class ball screws ensure precision and lasting durability. The 1610L fits squarely between the approximately 4,000 lb small industrial CNC machining centers such as the HAAS Mini Mill (16” x 12” x 10” requiring 6.5 x 6.5 feet) and the Sharp SV-2412, and approximately 1,000 lb open frame benchtop machines, such as the 1.5 hp Tormach LLC PCNC 1100, and 2 hp Smithy 1240.

Accessibility:

The 1610L has been designed to fit though standard 36” doorways, easily moved with a pallet jack or wheeled base, and contain all of the chips and coolant to keep its surrounding environment clean. It was designed from the ground up to be the ideal machine to run in a light industrial facility or garage that cannot support typical machines due to their size and weight, debris creation and power requirements.

Ease of use

The 1610L features the Mikini V1.2 CNC control system which offers full manual and CNC support under MACH3 PC Control.

Affordability

The 2009 1610L retails for $11,999 new. This is about 1/4 of the cost of small industrial CNC machining centers, and only a few dollars more than a fully featured bench top CNC milling machine.

Suitability

The 1610L was designed from the ground up to be the ideal machine for R&D and Engineering labs, small businesses, fabrication shops, educational facilities and large shops needing additional capacity for sequential operations. It was designed and built for industrial service. It will be a trusted resource to anyone who needs a compact fully featured, high value CNC machining center. It is perfectly suited to use in a residential garage or small business
