City Councilwoman Wendy Greuel Host Food DriveOn Saturday, April 25, The Rotary Club of Sherman Oaks Sunset and Los Angeles City Councilwoman Wendy Greuel will host a food drive for Valley Food Bank at Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park as part of Rotarians At Work Day, an international day of service.
Club President Nancy Schmidt said, “The Club's Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park project is important to the community and the Sherman Oaks Sunset Rotary Club is pleased to be a part of making it happen. That’s what Rotary is all about. 'Service Above Self' is a motto that Rotarians have lived by for more than a century." The project includes planting a new tree, cleaning up the park, and most importantly collecting donations of non-perishable food. The result of the day of service will be a cleaner park today, a wonderful shade tree in the future, and immediate hope for the less fortunate in the San Fernando Valley who need the food the Club can collect. Los Angeles City Councilmember and Controller-Elect Wendy Greuel introduced a Resolution in City Council proclaiming April 25, 2009 "Rotarians At Work Day" in the entire City of Los Angeles.
