True Stories from the Dog Rescue Railroad Aim to Educate Readers About Homeless Dogs

CINCINNATI, OHIO  – April 11, 2009  – Every Rescued Dog Has a Tale: Stories from the Dog Rescue Railroad is a collection of Debbie Eades’ heartwarming experiences as a volunteer for the ‘Dog Rescue Railroad,” a national network of caring individuals who donate their free time to rescue rural dogs from shelters.  Eades published her book on Lulu.com, the online marketplace for digital content. It now is available at http://everyrescueddog.homestead.com along with an excerpt of the book and contact information.

“My book is a dedication to all these animals and many others who have been beaten down emotionally and often physically, yet who still have enough trust to willing go one from car to the next on their way to hopefully a new and better life,” said Eades. “I wrote the book to educate people about abused and neglected dogs and hopefully inspire them to help.”

The book contains 17 individual chapters, each profiling Eades’ role in the transport of dog rescued from a high volume rural kill shelters to a safe new homes or rescue groups. Readers will learn about Oreo, a pit bull puppy who was being used as bait in a dog fighting ring in New Jersey, and Sasha, a beautiful black Great Dane who is abandoned and tied to a doghouse in the dead of winter, with no food until her owner calls Great Dane Rescue and tells them to "come and get her.”

The book also includes over 30 pages of black and white photos of many other dogs Eades transported. All profits from her book go directly to help rural animal shelters and dog rescues around the country so that more dogs will have a happy ending.

The book, which up to now has sold well through word of mouth and rescue group fundraisers, has been well received by critics and readers. Cheryl Miller Pingleton of the Uncommon Review, says  “Every Rescued Dog has a Tale is a quick read that is well worth it.  A portion of the proceeds from the book’s sales will be donated to DogsDeserveBetter and the Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue in Bethel, Ohio. There are numerous photographs of each of the dogs that the author has transported.  You can truly see the sadness and vulnerability in these animals’ eyes.  God bless the author and all those involved with protecting some of the most innocent among us.”

A reader comments, “Like others - I laughed, and I cried - but most importantly - I became part of the solution. As involved as I have been in rescue organizations, never did I realize such an easy opportunity to help existed. The author has so accurately described the reality of the simple things that we all can do to make a difference, and the 'instant gratification' that comes with it... For anyone who loves animals, and has ever wondered, ‘but what can I do?’ "Every Dog Has It's Tale" has the answers.”

You can purchase a copy of the book at Eades Amazon book page, where you also will find photos of many of her rescued dogs and more reader reviews.  The book also is available at select libraries and gift shop around the country. Rescue groups can purchase the book at a discount for fundraising.
