Dog Shock Training Collar Tips

Dog owners have found that their training efforts are greatly improved with the use of a training collar. There are various training collars available and each employs a different method of discouraging disobedient behavior

Note: Training collars can do more harm than good if they are not used properly. Make sure that you read or watch any instruction videos that comes with your collar.

Electronic Dog Training Collar

Just mentioning training your dog with an electronic dog collar and many pet owners eyes will budge out of their heads like you just suggested the worst fate for your dog. In reality a shock collar can be a very human way to train your dog. Many times these training devices are used for the purposes of cruelty but it is totally dependant on the trainer and their intentions.

How do they work?
These collars work by allowing the handler to give the dog very small, electric shock with a hand held remote in order to modify their behavior. The intensity is totally controlled by the handler. The shock should be set at a level that makes the dogs ears twitch in response. If a dog reacts by yelping then the setting is too high and should be adjusted accordingly. Again, the electronic dog collars should be used with care. Please read all instruction manuals and videos before starting your training.

Here you can find more information on dog training collars and watch a great instructional video:
