Smith A Math and Science Career Academy Event for K-12 students Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc’s (SEM Link) is extending an invitation to the Metro Atlanta community to participate in our annual Science, Engineering and Mathematics Career Fair and Exhibition held on May 2, 2009 from 1:00- 4:00 pm at the Georgia State University Student Center Ballroom. This is the signature event for our Math and Science Career Academy. This purpose of this event, which is free and open to the public, is to expose K-12 students to the various careers and applications in these disciplines. Exhibitors, professionals and students in these disciplines, will feature their careers, conduct hands-on demonstrations or showcase real world applications of math and science. The event will be set up similar to a job fair in which students will walk around the event and visit the tables of the exhibitors. Church groups, community organizations, parents and schools interested in attending this event can RSVP by email no later than April 25. The RSVP email should include the name of your group, contact person and contact information and the number of attendees in your group. There are also opportunities for individuals and organizations interested in serving as an event exhibitors and sponsors. Potential exhibitors and sponsors should send an email requesting an event exhibitor or sponsor packet, then complete and return the completed packet no later than April 25. SEM Link is a tax exempt nonprofit organization that promotes student achievement and career exploration in math and science for K-12 students. Our programs, Math and Science Career Academy and Experimental Design Program, provide students with an opportunity to develop their math and science skills by enhancing the classroom learning experience and teaching them skills that are transferable to other areas of life. The career academy exposes students to math and science through hands-on activities, real world applications, career exploration, and the celebration of science, engineering, and mathematics themed weeks. The Experimental Design Program teaches students how to design and conduct experiments for math and science fair projects utilizing research, laboratory and scientific literacy skills.
