FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Mar 18, 2009 – AURORA, Illinois – Independent media corporation SunSpring Enterprises today announced the publication of a new comic book featuring the world’s first singing, songwriting superhero: The Last Troubadour.

The first title released under SunSpring’s Dream Sub Comics imprint (www.DreamSub.com), it tells the story of Jake Fountain, a college-age, guitar-strumming slacker who has greatness thrust upon him when he is chosen to fulfill a destiny of “righting wrongs with rhymes and songs.” Chosen by whom is the question, and the answer will slowly be revealed in upcoming issues, according to the book’s writer-creator, Bennett Neuhauser.

“The first issue will keep readers guessing a bit. It’s not clear right away just exactly why Jake has been chosen to be this unique brand of hero,” said Neuhauser, “But the story kicks off with action, and introduces readers to characters they’ll appreciate and relate to, whether they’re fans of comics or music, or both.”

The Last Troubadour #1 includes a script by Neuhauser, with interior art by Sarah Christoff, plus pin-up pages by several artists, including one by comics legend Gene Colan and another by renowned illustrator Thomas Yeates.

Major characters, in addition to Jake Fountain, are his arch enemy, Mentone, a heavy metal head banger bent on dominating his fans, and Mentone’s girlfriend, Katherine, whose loyalty to her man begins to wane as he becomes increasingly entangled in the occult. There’s also a grandfatherly talking oak tree, a magical lute that gives Jake his powers, and a motorcycle-riding bumblebee.

“It’s going to take fans of fantasy and music on a trip they’ve never been on before,” said Neuhauser, who is himself a singer-songwriter and is presently writing songs to correlate with The Last Troubadour’s upcoming adventures, recordings of which will soon be available to fans online. “These songs will enhance the narrative, but stand on their own, too. From the eloquence of ancient bards to the angst of modern alt rockers, music and storytelling will merge in a way that can only happen with comics.”

The Last Troubadour #1 is currently for sale at www.IndyPlanet.com, and from www.WestfieldComics.com. An interview with Neuhauser is also available on the Westfield Comics site. For further information about The Last Troubadour, and other new titles, visit www.DreamSub.com.
