The British Are Coming … to Henry County!

Feb. 12, 2009 - PRLog -- Music from “across the pond” will fill the air at the Jason T. Harper Event Center in Heritage Park in Henry County, Georgia!  The live show is slated for Saturday, May 9, 2009.  It is the second of the “Sounds of the 60s” concert series of live music events produced by local company Speer Entertainment Services/Really Big Productions, Inc. The debut concert, “Sound of the 60’s – Solid Gold”, was held at the same venue last October.  
   The talent line up is a who’s who of British Invasion-era artists.  Artists scheduled to perform include:
  • Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone, best known for hits like “I'm Henry the VIII I Am” • “I'm Into Something Good” • “Mrs. Brown You've Got A lovely Daughter” and “There's A Kind of Hush.”
  • Peter & Gordon performing favorites including “I Go To Pieces” • “Lady Godiva” • “Nobody I Know” • “True Love Ways” and “Woman.”
  • Terry Sylvester formerly of the Hollies with favorites such as “The Air That I Breathe” • “He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother” • “Just One Look” and “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress.”
  • Badfinger’s Joey Molland singing “Day After Day” • “No Matter What” • “Come & Get It” and “Baby Blue.”
   The opening act will be a familiar but less British sound.  The Woody’s featuring radio DJ Freddie Brooks from Atlanta’s True Oldies channel 106.7, will kick off the evening.  Brooks emceed the October show.  Doors open at 4:00 p.m., and the show starts at 6:00 p.m.  The show will go on, rain or shine, as all seats are under cover.
   Tickets are just $25 each for bleacher seats.  Floor seats are only $35 each.  VIP table seating is also available for $75 per ticket and includes a delicious dinner catered by McDonough favorite, O.B.’s BBQ.  Tickets may be purchased at http://www.TicketAlternative.com or in McDonough at O.B.’s BBQ, the Welcome Center on the square, at Henry County Parks & Rec office at Heritage Park or by calling 770-957-0768.  The Jason T.    “We’re excited to return to Heritage Park for our second concert,” said Linda Walker, owner of Speer Entertainment.  “We realize that times are tight, so offering a full night of affordable, family-friendly entertainment was important to us,” she explained.  “Where else can you see four famous acts performing live for just $25 a ticket?  It’s a great value!”
   Just as the October concert did, the May show will also help the local community.  A portion of concert proceeds will benefit the Henry County Sheriff Department’s Honor Guard / Officer and Families Fund.  The Fund provides emergency assistance in time of need.
