TESST College of Technology Takes All Three Awards at the MAPCCS Annual Conference

The Maryland Association of Private Colleges and Career Schools conference honors TESST

Jan. 8, 2009 - PRLog -- The TESST College of Technology’s Beltsville campus was recognized at the Maryland Association of Private Colleges and Career Schools (MAPCCS) annual conference on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008. Three awards were given at the conference, including teacher of the year, adult student scholarship and distinguished service award. More than 20 schools from the state of Maryland were present and TESST College of Technology’s Beltsville campus walked away with all three awards.

The Adult Student Scholarship Program award was given to Brian Slye, a criminal justice student with a 4.0 grade point average who is a devoted volunteer with the Laurel Police Explorer Program where he educates youth about safety and security.  In 2007 he participated in and completed the Laurel Police Citizen’s Police Academy.  

TESST’s Olga Lucanu, program chair and instructor for the information technology department, received Teacher of the Year.  She was recognized as a solid force for change helping to keep the campus’ classrooms exciting and interesting.

The Distinguished Service award was given to Blaine Haines, a 20 year staff member.  Haines began his career as an admissions representative and then moved into the financial aid department as a coordinator. In 2006, he was promoted to his current position as assistant director of financial aid.

The MAPCCS Annual Conference was held this past Friday, Dec. 12, at the BWI Airport Marriott Hotel.

The TESST College of Technology Beltsville campus is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT).  ACCSCT is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education.
