1. He said “You want somebody who has credibility, someone with more than a few references. This will give you an idea of the kind of contractor that you will be dealing with. The last thing you want is to be scammed or conned by a slick talking salesman who really doesn’t know what he’s doing. First ask for as many references as they can provide. Find out from the references how there personality was? Did they do a quality job? Did they keep their work area clean on a daily basis? Were there any unexpected problems, and how did they deal with them?
2. A knowledgeable Painting Contractor should be able to address the following; what type of coatings they will be applying, and an explanation for using that product. An experienced Painting Contractor has gained knowledge from seeing & running into all kinds of unexpected problems. From water damaged areas to mold, mildew, stains, etc. So through their experiences they have learned how to spot unexpected problems in advance and what the best solutions to fix or avoid them would be. This can be a huge benefit to you, keeping hidden charges and extra cost to a minimum, This also will help you know what to expect ahead of time. Of course a painting contractor should be very knowledgeable of the types of surfaces they are applying coatings to, such as wood, metal, aluminum, bare drywall, etc. also what kind of paint was used previously on the surfaces your going to paint.
3. You want a Painting Contractor that you know is going to give you an excellent quality job. Most People think of their property as an important investment. So obviously you’d like to have it taken care of properly! Nobody wants to pay for a job to be done twice to get it done right .Make sure to get a contractor who will pay attention to details, such as non visible area’s and places in need of caulking and other preparation. Ignoring these spots could lead to rotted wood, or water damage. I’ve heard many Painting contractors use the phrase “out of site, = out of mind” which in my book is poor business, laziness & is totally unacceptable. Having to pay twice is definitely never nice!
4. Reliability is also an important factor when hiring someone. Most people who are having any kind of repairs, or improvements done at there home or business want the job done as soon as possible. So when checking the contractors references, make sure that A. They finished the job in a timely manner. B. They showed up on time on a daily basis. C. They finished the job in the time frame that they said they would.
