Dec. 23, 2008 - PRLog -- Bobbin Beam, Voice Actress recently completed narrating Volume One of  “Sisters On The Case”, celebrating twenty years of Sisters in Crime. The complete anthology was edited by Sara Paretsky and features 20 stories of suspense, both originals and classics.  The audio book Beam recorded is Volume One, consisting of a collection of ten short mystery/detective stories anticipated for release in February, 2009. The audiobook will be sold at Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com.

At Bouchercon in 1986, author and editor Sara Paretsky convened a meeting that sowed the seeds for Sisters in Crime. She had already revolutionized the mystery novel by introducing V.I. Warshawski, a female P.I. who uses her wits as well as her fists. Prior to Indemnity Only, the female characters in mysteries were traditionally either vamps or victims.
The stories are a mix of originals and classics:
P.M. Carlson, "Frighted Out of Fear; or, The Bombs Bursting in Air"
Barbara D'Amato, "Steak Tartare"
Dorothy Salisbury Davis, "Dies Irae"
Susan Dunlap, "Hearing Her Name"
Kate Flora, "Ninjettes"
Linda Grant, "Never Too Old"
Kate Grilley, "Maubi and the Jumbies"
Carolyn Hart, "Murder for Lunch"
Libby Hellmann, "The Whole World is Watching"
Sue Henry, "Sister Death"
Rochelle Krich, "Guardian Angel"
Charlotte MacLeod, "Lady Patterly"s Lover"
Margaret Maron, "You May Already Be a Winner"
Claire Carmichael McNab, "Animal Act"
Annette Meyers, "Not Just the Facts"
Sara Paretsky, "A Family Sunday in the Park"
Nancy Pickard, "I Killed"
Medora Sale, "Estelle is Dead"
Eve Sandstrom, "The People's Way"
Patricia Sprinkle, "For the Common Good"

Beam is scheduled to begin recording Volume Two of the anthology in early 2009.
