18th Century Sino-Tibetan Gilt Bronze Figure Sells at iGavel.com for $144,000

Nov. 3, 2008 - PRLog -- The Asian, Ancient and Ethnographic Works of Art Auction ended last week at iGavel.com. The auction was a success despite fears of a weakening global economy. Mainland Chinese collectors remained optimistic and were keen to buy very good pieces with historical significance.

In total, eleven lots sold above ten thousand dollars, with an 18th Century Sino-Tibetan Gilt Bronze Figure selling for $144,000. Thirty-three bids were placed to achieve this notable price.

The Roman Marble Torso of Aphrodite, circa 1st Century AD, sold for $100,800 reaching a price more than double the estimate. In addition, a Greek Bronze Warriors Helmet, 7th Century BC reached $37,200 including the buyers premium.

Twenty-seven bids were placed for a Chinese Doucai Porcelain Vase from the 18th/ 19th Century, achieving a price of $28,800, more than doubling the low estimate.

A rare two volume set of 19th Century Chinese books sold for more than quadruple its estimate, and achieved a selling price of $19,800 with twenty-six bids.
