James Dicks, President/CEO of PremiereTec Solutions, speaks to veteran entrepreneurs

Sept. 25, 2008 - PRLog -- James Dicks, President/CEO of PremiereTec Solutions, was invited by the Florida Small Business Development Center at Brevard Community College and the Veterans Business Outreach Center to be the keynote speaker at this year’s 8th Annual Veteran’s Conference.  The gathering was held at the King Center for Performing Arts in Melbourne, Florida and the theme of this year’s conference was Operation Financial Freedom, which is one of Dicks’ best selling books dealing with issues of personal finance.  He spoke to the veterans, currently developing businesses in the Central Florida region, concerning the current state of the U.S. business environment.

After his presentation, Dicks said that although these are highly challenging times for business people, if they develop the proper strategies for growth, they can do extremely well.  “In order to out shine your competition, you really need to develop an effective business plan that outlines a number of issues plus determine what your business strengths are and why you are setting up your business in the first place.  You also must do your research in order to completely understand your market, have a backup plan and, most importantly, be patient.  Today’s business environment requires a solid position to successfully get through the cyclical downturns that happen now and then.  One more thing; you have to dream big and believe in what you and your company are doing.  If you can keep your focus and push through some very tough decisions, you’ll have a much better chance of making it.”  

The conference allowed networking opportunities for the businesspeople that were able to meet with veteran advocates and visit various exhibits sponsored by a number of organizations including Washington’s Center for Veterans Enterprise, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and NASA’s Central Industry Assistance Center.  There were also representatives from the Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Patrick Air Force Base, the Brevard County Small Business Assistance Council and the Veterans Outreach Center.  Boeing, Northrop Grumman, the United Space Alliance and the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast, big supporters of veteran business, were also in attendance at this year’s conference.

The Director of the Small Business Development Center, Vicky Peake, said after Dicks’ presentation to the veterans, “James was fantastic!  Thanks so, so much. We’ve enjoyed working with him, and we look forward to future projects.”
