By: Enchanted PR The United Negro College Fund has partnered with Wachovia, American Airlines, Ford, FedEx, Amtrak, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, for the Empower Me tour which begins Friday, September 26th in Washington, DC and will culminate on May 23rd in Columbia, SC. The UNCF hopes to bring together minority high school and college students to share in a one of a kind experience where they will be motivated, encouraged and inspired to take control of their destiny by using education, mentoring and volunteerism as tools for achieving their goals and dreams in life. A community activist, Stegall was chosen by the UNCF because of the reputation of his youth-targeted online web show entiled The S.E.L.F (Students Expressing Life Freely) Show, and the impact the show has had on teens and young adults ages 12 yrs - 23 yrs. As creator, executive producer and host of the show Stegall has interviewed celebrities such as LisaRaye, Vivica A. Fox, Boris Kodjoe, legendary actress Ruby Dee, Dr. Ian Smith, DJ Kid Capri, R&B singer Trey Songz, television actress Ke Ke Palmer, gospel great Fred Hammond, fashion guru Fonsworth Bentley, teen sensation Tiffany Evans and the self-proclaimed Prince of Hip-Hop Bow Wow. In addition to the S.E.L.F. show, Stegall is the founder of The Fly High Poetic Language Enrichment Program, a self-expression program that teaches children the importance of communication and self expression through poetry and various art forms. Stegall's award-winning program builds confidence, self-esteem, reading and writing skills in children and teens. He has also spearheaded several television production efforts including, The S.E.L.F Show, Pulse of the City, Spotlight, Gospel Vibes, Talk About It! and Straight Talk with Michael Stevens. He has produced projects with professional sports icons including former NBA player Dell Curry, Kendal Phills, football players Rod Rutherford, Brenston Buckner, Carolina Panther Steve Smith, former Dallas Cowboy Adrian Murrell and former Pittsburg Steelers Corey Bell. He has collaborated with NY Times best selling author Omar Tyree along with numerous other national recording artists, television actors and actresses and entertainers. The Atlanta native has carved a career niche as an advocate for young people especially as it relates to the African American community. Stegall says the opportunity to be a part of this tour is monumental as it gives a voice to the leaders of tomorrow. "I want to thank Gigi Dixon of Wachovia and Monica Newman- McCluney at UNCF for the opportunity to enrich the lives of our future generations and inviting me to be a part of this historical opportunity," As the exclusive youth commentator, Stegall will be interviewing and registering high school and college students for the tour zone. Stegall will be recording his experience on his myspace page along with his blog site. He hopes to connect with young people across the world and to educate them on the work going on at many of the historical HBCU campuses and that of the UNCF. "I want to use this opportunity to encourage young people to continue to follow their dreams. Dreams are forever and until you give up your right to stop dreaming," he says.
