Sept. 22, 2008 - PRLog -- Small independent radio station up against the BBC and large nationals in the BT Radio Station of the Year Award.

The UK’s only green radio station Passion for the Planet has been shortlisted in the BT Radio Station of the Year Awards.

Independently owned Passion which broadcasts to London and parts of the south of England on DAB has been shortlisted alongside four other national radio stations: BBC 6 Music, BBC Asian, Planet Rock and Gaydar.

The awards celebrate innovation and excellence in radio. The initial shortlist is chosen by a panel of distinguished judges. The final winner is decided by combination of public vote and judges decision.

Passion’s listeners have been rallying round voting for the station and emailing the studio with congratulations.

“Just being shortlisted is fantastic and we’re confident that with our loyal listeners behind us we have an excellent chance of winning,” said Passion’s managing Director Chantal Cooke. “We’d like to encourage everyone to place their vote, which they can do via our web site www.passionfortheplanet.com, and we’d like to thank those who already have.”

Voting closes on Saturday 27th September and the winners will be announced at a star-studded dinner on 1st October.
