Since the time they were founded, no other organization has affected the Nation in such a way as they have.

Single handedly this small organization that has grown from a group of 8 people to a nationwide organization of thousands has brought the Silver Star Service Banner to the forefront as THE symbol of the wounded and ill of our Armed Forces.

At the same time they have done the unthinkable.  They have started a national holiday.  Picking May 1st as “Silver Star Banner Day,” for the purpose of remembering and honoring our wounded and ill was a bold move.  They combined the day with Loyalty Day and the start of Military Appreciation month.

In 2008, 46 states, the District of Columbia, the United States Virgin Islands and almost 200 cities and towns across the United States issued proclamations in support of Silver Star Banner Day.

Already working for May 1st of 2009, the organization has focused on having city mayors join with them in remembering the wounded and ill and have already received almost 400 proclamations from all over the United States, with a stated goal of 5000 cities and towns.

If they reach their goal of all 50 states and 5000 cities and towns signing proclamations in support of Silver Star Banner Day, it will be an unprecedented event.  Imagine getting 50 states and 5000 cities to agree on one thing.

But apparently this organization has faith:  Faith that no matter what your political bent, your color or religion, we can all agree that our wounded and ill Armed Force members need to be remembered.

And from all appearances they just may be right.
