Follow on Google News | Safer pneumatics with Moduflex AirGuard system from Parker HannifinParker Hannifin, the global leader in motion and control technologies, has introduced a range of innovative air fuses that protect operators of pneumatic equipment from the hazards associated with broken compressed-air hose
By: 4 C M The Moduflex AirGuard system ensures the main air flow is immediately shut off if the volume of air exceeds a set ‘value’, this ‘value’ is factory preset to allow normal air consumption when using air tools. If the air consumption exceeds the set value for the AirGuard, for instance, in the event of the air line being severed, then the internal piston instantly shuts off the main flow. An integral bleed hole allows some air to flow though, enabling the line pressure to automatically reset the AirGuard once the line break is repaired. In line with latest industry regulations managers now have a responsibility to provide a safe working environment for their employees. They must ensure that equipment is suitable for use, and for the purpose and condition in which it is used; maintained in a safe condition for use so that people’s health and safety is not at risk; and inspected in certain circumstances to ensure that it is, and continues to be, safe for use. Management should also ensure that risks created by the use of the equipment are eliminated where possible or controlled by taking appropriate hardware measures. The Moduflex AirGuard system helps facilitate this responsibility by improving considerably the safety of a wide range of pneumatic applications. The compact, lightweight devices have been designed to provide a simple yet effective safety mechanism for a wide range of pneumatic applications. The components can be fitted quickly and easily, with no adjustment necessary, to provide reliable, tamperproof protection. The Modulex AirGuard system is compatible with a wide range of hose, tube or pipe sizes from 1/4” to 2”, with a maximum inlet pressure of up to 35 bar. The components are high visibility yellow in compliance with Health & Safety standards, and stainless steel versions are available for use in sectors such as food and beverage, healthcare, and offshore.
