Mystery Writer Pledges Proceeds from New Book to Soldiers’ Angels

Category: General

Author C.S. Challinor will be donating 15 percent of the royalties from her debut mystery novel "Christmas is Murder " to Soldiers’ Angels for use in supporting the wounded!

Challinor has been motived to help by seeing young people coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan with life-altering wounds.  Says Challinor, “The average age of wounded veterans is 23 years old. That's only a few years older than my own son.”  And that son has his own history with Soldiers' Angels: several years ago when the organization was still quite small, he coordinated donation of a large cartload of supplies for care packages.

An Agatha Christie-style mystery, "Christmas is Murder" tells the story of eight guests snowbound in a secluded English hotel. First a disabled WWII veteran dies of poisoning. Soon, others meet untimely death in this first of Challinor’s “Rex Graves” series. Kirkus Reviews describes this debut novel as "a pleasant modern knockoff of Christie", while Rick Miller, host of ABC’s primetime hit series “Just for Laughs” says "Challinor writes with wit and cheek, and with Rex Graves she has created a thoroughly charming sleuth.”

Challinor will be the Soldiers' Angels Featured Artist for August.  With distribution expected in late August or early September, "Christmas is Murder" is now available for order at Barnes & Noble, Target Stores, and most bookstores.
