July 9, 2008 - PRLog -- Free Spirits, a musical collaboration of vocalist Heidi Martin and saxophonist Tim Green, will offer the music of Lincoln and Coltrane as well as original music by the artists themselves.

Martin and Green will be joined by Joel Holmes on piano, DeAndre Shaifer on trumpet, flugelhorn & piano, Kris Funn on bass and John Lamkin III on drums.

Lincoln and Coltrane were not only jazz innovators but social activists whose work expressed, better than mere words, the voice of Black America calling for freedom in 50’s and 60’s.  Abby Lincoln had a profound influence on an entire generation of jazz singers while John Coltrane’s instrumental innovations literally changed how the music was practiced and presented.

Presented by the Salem Lutheran Church and Riverside Stage, Free Spirits will be presented at the Salem Lutheran Church, 1503 Battery Avenue, Baltimore MD 21230 on Friday, July 25th at 7pm. Tickets are $10.
