Why Viddu and why another shopping site?

Viddu was started to solve a very specific problem, a problem that we kept encountering over and over again in different forms. It started with our baby shopping last year. My wife and I started collecting the different items that we needed to buy and keep them ready by the time the baby was born. It was great that we were planning ahead but then started the trouble, the list consisted of 100 items. We started researching different options for each of the major items like cribs, strollers, car seats, playards, baby monitors...First we had to find what features to look for, then we had to sort out the brands, read reviews from amazon.com, babycenter.com, consumer reports and then we had to run around to see if local stores offered any good deals and also research the online stores to see whats the best deal out there. After months of doing this, we ended up with a spreadsheet of the major items, the options and the decision. Then it hit us, wouldn't it be nice if we could have just asked our friends to see what they went through and what they ended up with? Wouldn't it be nice if we could share our experiences with friends? Wouldn't it be nice if we can do this at the same place where we shop? Wouldn't it be nice to see deals in the same place where we see store offers? One cannot do this with any of the existing shopping solutions but you can do these at Viddu.com.
