It is the only U.S. Coast Guard approved, buoyant, rapid response, multiple use,
water and ice rescue disk that gives you up to 100 foot reach. The Personal
Retriever water rescue device out performs all throw able water rescue devices.

The Personal Retriever™, by Life-Safer, is a United States Coast Guard (USCG)
approved, state-of-the-art, throw able Personal Flotation Device (PFD) developed
to allow first responders on the shore or afloat the ability to quickly retrieve people
in distress from the water or from frozen rivers, lakes, streams or waterways.

The rescue device was designed by Rescue Professionals using the American
Red Cross philosophy of Reach, Throw, Don’t Go. The designers also followed
Life Guarding principles shown in The American Lifesaving Association Manual of
Open Water Lifesaving and data taken from a 1984 United States Coast Guard
study on the buoyancy required for proper breathing control in rough water. This
1984 USCG data overrides the 1950’s data used for Type IV ring buoy buoyancy
requirements that do not take into account the adverse effects of the extra size
and weight of a traditional ring buoy.

The water rescue device provides the optimum balance of buoyancy and size in an
aerodynamic & hydrodynamic shape. The 100 feet of integrated floating line allows
for quick deployment and victim recovery. The attachment point of the line makes
the device skim on top of the water allowing it to keep stationary in rough water
and to be quickly retrieved with little effort. Extra line can easily be attached to the
device, which allows it to be used from higher vessels or bridges.

The life saver's aerodynamic shape makes it very accurate and easy to use. Initial
training time for the Personal Retriever is usually less than an hour and practice
training is only needed a few times a year to maintain skill and accuracy in use of
the water rescue personal flotation device. The rescue devices soft, but durable
expanded polyethylene foam material lowers the chances of injury to the victim to
almost zero. This provides much higher safety during training with the unit and a
reduction in liability during actual use of the water rescue device.

The Personal Retriever life saving water rescue device has a proven record of
working when other traditional water rescue device equipment has failed
