Women’s Self-Defense Institute Collects Used Cell Phones for Domestic Violence Victims

PRLog (Press Release) – May 15, 2008 – Edison, NJ – Women’s Self-Defense Institute (http://www.self-defense-mind-body-spirit.com), a national leader in educating and training women about their self defense and personal security options, announced today the kickoff of their cell phone fundraising program to raise money for domestic violence programs. Many of the phones will go to domestic violence victims for use in emergency situations, with others sold to provide funds for shelters and social service providers.

Women’s Self-Defense Institute is working with Shelter Alliance, a Miramar, Florida firm specializing in the logistics and underwriting of fundraising programs through the collection and responsible recycling of used cellular phones. Shelter Alliance currently works with over 2000 social service organizations nationwide collecting cell phones for 911 emergency purposes and fundraising and has contributed over $5,000,000 to participating organizations.
