Adrain Washington and Mark Pitts of Jive Records
New York, New York - Celebrity Adrain Washington, (The Angel Project, American Gangster, Miracle at St. Anna) has just agreed to participate in an award winning, beautiful play aptly entitled "Osage Ave." Written by Jamal Williams, "Osage Ave." is a play directed by veteran director Aixa Kendricks. "Osage Ave" is a fictional story based on a true to life ordeal of a group of Philadelphians known as M.O.V.E. In 1985 a war broke out in one of Philadelphia's prominent districts. A street lined with buildings that housed some of Philadelphia's most affluent African Americans, just a stones throw away from the City's Municipal building, innocents succumbed to what has been recorded as one of the darkest blemishes on the city's image.
All cast members portray multiple characters in the piece, giving a complete arch to each ensemble member's character psyche. Adrain Washington portrays Josiah, a little boy of M.O.V.E., Sam Africa, the wall that proudly defends M.O.V.E.'s existence, and Mr. Moses a very wise but unsubtle barber in the area. The play focuses on the stories of all three involvements, the city, the residents, and the accused.
The play will run in a festival of award winning plays at the famous Cherry Lane Theater in the West Village of NYC.
