Apr 30, 2008 – Dr van Harmelen gained his PhD in Computer Science at the University of Manchester, where he was formerly a Lecturer and a Research Fellow. Mark has also been a Cabinet appointee in South Africa, where he was responsible for aligning stakeholders and planning a national institute for ICT tasked with assisting in socio-economic change and later established as the Meraka Institute.
