March 14, 2008 - PRLog -- Arlington, Texas - Hundreds of championship cats and kittens plus household pets will compete for Best of the Best  titles at The International Cat Association (TICA) 2008 Annual Cat Show in Arlington, Texas on August 30-31, 2008.

Held at the Arlington Convention Center, TICA’s 2008 Annual Cat Show is hosted by a different region in a member country every year. Hundreds of cats and kittens from around the world will compete in twelve rings of judging in Championship cat, kitten, alter, household pet and household pet kitten divisions.  International winners from the 2007-2008 show season which ends April 30, 2008 will be at the show to compete and also be recognized at an annual awards banquet where the top twenty in the each division are recognized as International winners.

The International Cat Agility Tournaments (ICAT) will hold timed agility competitions during the show. Cats competing in the show and cats with non-profit organizations available for adoption at the show will have a chance to run the agility course which features jumps, hoops, tunnels, weave poles and crosswalks. The top three cats or kittens with clean runs and the fastest times will win prizes.

“TICA’s South Central region is proud to invite cats from around the world to compete at our 2008 Annual Cat Show,” said Cheryl Hogan, TICA Board Member and South Central Regional Director. “Not only will people be able to see some of the world’s best cats and kittens competing in twelve rings judged by judges from around the world, but they’ll also be able to enjoy the new sport of cat agility which puts the cats through some rigorous timed events.”

TICA is the world’s largest genetic registry and has recognized several new breeds for registration and competition. “The Savannah is one of the newest preliminary breeds. Originally bred from the Serval, several Savannahs will be on display for the public to see,” said Hogan.
