Fred Adams Paving Company Celebrates Participation in Professional Award-Winning Projects

Jan. 15, 2008 - PRLog -- Raleigh, NC- Fred Adams Jr., Vice President of Fred Adams Paving Company, has announced the company assisted with two projects which won awards given by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (NCASLA) on November 10, 2007, at a ceremony entitled, “Celebration of Landscape Architecture.”  The 2007 Professional Award projects that Fred Adams Paving took part in were in the categories of Landscape Architectural Design, Large Scale, and Landscape Architectural Design, Small Scale.

“We were thrilled to have the opportunity to take part in these award-winning projects” said Adams.  “We believe the recognition and success of these projects is a reflection of our own hard work.  We hold ourselves to very high standards in the hardscape and segmental paving industry, and taking part in award winning projects provides evidence of that.”

Kimley-Horne & Associates received the Award of Excellence, the top honor in the Large Scale category, for the pedestrian tunnel on the campus of North Carolina State University.  In this project, Fred Adams Paving installed 22,000 square feet of clay brick pavers, which were placed over eight inches of aggregate base and set in a one-inch sand setting bed.  Additionally, O’Brien Atkins received the Recognition Award for their courtyard at the Piedmont Triad Research Park Biotechnology Research Facility Phase One in Winston-Salem, NC.  Fred Adams Paving installed 14,000 square feet of unit pavers in the plaza area consisting of various materials.   All of the pavers were installed in a sand bed screeded over a concrete slab.  To complete the project, all pavers were cleaned and sealed.

The 2007 Professional Awards program was juried by four industry professionals as well as Mary Newsom, Associate Editor of the Charlotte Observer and awarded honors to not only local firms, but also students studying landscape architecture at North Carolina State University and North Carolina A&T University as well.
