PRLog - Aug. 1, 2007 - BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Each piece is identically shaped. It has the same picture on both sides. In a diabolical twist, the puzzle is cut once from the top and once from the bottom. Looking at a piece, there's no way to tell one side from the other, and ALL the pieces are the same shape. A lot of thought went into making the World's Most Difficult Jigsaw Puzzle as tricky as it can be. Designer Don Scott thought long and hard about what would make a tough puzzle. In 1986, his creation was first offered to the world and puzzle fans loved it.
Smiley Faces edition of World's Most Difficult Jigsaw Puzzle
Proving that there was life in a category of toys that made most people yawn, nearly five million people have purchased the World's Most Difficult Jigsaw Puzzle since then, making it one of the best selling jigsaw puzzle series of all time. The puzzle was the first smash hit of Buffalo Games, Inc., today one of the largest US producers of jigsaw puzzles, and single handedly launched a category of products known as Specialty Puzzles. The puzzle has been a staple of the Buffalo Games line ever since and is still going strong. Additionally it is produced and distributed around the world with distributors in Japan, the UK, Australia, and Germany.
Feeling that this was a formula for success, more specialty puzzles followed, many of which went on to produce unit sales of a million or more. Developing puzzles more actively than ever, Mr. Scott's new specialty puzzles include the CONNECT'EM series of huge puzzles (over 5 ft tall), QuoteOGraphs, and the 3D PuzziSphere, a self-supporting spherical jigsaw puzzle. Available from numerous producers and in numerous generic and licensed titles, the prolific designer has carved out and claimed this niche.
