Comtec Launches Fuel-Cell 'Eco-Structure' Data Centre and 24/7 NOC

Comtec Enterprises has opened its new data centre featuring APC technology

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jun 21, 2007 – Comtec Enterprises, the ICT solutions company, announces the launch of its data centre demo-suite and 24/7 Network Operations Centre (NOC). The data centre, featuring APC's InfraStruXure® product suite and hydrogen fuel-cell technology, will enable customers to preview the latest in efficient data centre design from its Power division, whilst the NOC will provide monitoring and management services to remote customer network infrastructures and datacentres.

Adhering to Comtec's 'eco-structure' philosophy for intelligent datacentre design, back-up power is provided by high-performance fuel-cell technology, which emits only heat and water as waste products. Nick Claxson, managing director of Comtec Enterprises, comments:

"The datacentre is the foundation of all ICT strategy, so it's important to make the right decision from the outset. Having a datacentre demo-suite that our customers can touch and see makes a huge difference in their understanding of the technology, its capabilities, and efficiency.

"Integrating a fuel-cell into the datacentre is the futurology element of the demonstration, but in reality, it won't be too long before we start hearing of more fuel-cell implementations in the UK."

In the long-term, the datacentre demo-suite and NOC will form the foundation of Comtec's managed services division, due to be launched later this year.

Claxson adds, "Our strategy is to design and offer a suite of hosted and managed services that support business development and continuity, and so making sure we have the right platform for our own growth and to enable these services is equally important."

Extending the existing datacentre demo-suite, Comtec will offer managed solutions for a range of business critical IT infrastructure and applications, including IP telephony, security, network management, and high density hosting.

Chris Jenkins, general manager of Comtec Enterprises comments,

"As a fast growing organisation, we understand the need for capacity, scalability and education in order to realise significant economic growth. To do so requires either a massive capital investment, or opting for traditional managed services that are shrouded in secrecy and distrust.

"Instead, we want to offer our customers an open, honest approach to managed services, whereby they can actually see where their services are hosted, understand the infrastructure, and be safe in the knowledge that their IT assets are protected by us – the people they buy from."

To further support enterprise ICT requirements, Comtec is to host a series of seminars that will focus on exploiting technology within business, and feature guest speakers from vendors such as APC and Cisco, as well as business leaders from end-user organisations.

Jenkins concludes, "Technology is a means to an end. Our seminars will aim to enlighten organisations to the pivotal role technology should play in driving and delivering business strategy."
