INVERNESS, Fla. - Aug. 10, 2023 - PRLog -- The Pet Professional Guild (PPG) has launched a new initiative called the Pet Training Science Alliance (PTSA) whose aim is to support and fund scientific research to advance the pet training industry.

For PTSA's inaugural collaboration, PPG is partnering with Jean Donaldson and The Academy for Dog Trainers to support an ambitious research project by Dr. Jamie Deleeuw of Community Research+. Despite the public's increasing demand for dog training, there remains a notable lack of research dedicated to the professional pet dog training community. The studies included in this project will provide an in-depth investigation into why dog trainers utilize specific training techniques and the prevalence and predictors of change in training method usage over time. The findings will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal and shared with the key stakeholders.

To fund this initial project, industry experts will volunteer their time and expertise to give a special series of educational webinars for PPG that will run from September 20, 2023, to May 30, 2024. Promotion of these events is transparent that all the proceeds will be used to fund this and future scientific research projects.

In return for the presenters' generosity, PPG will include in each presenter's webinar listing their company logo, full bio or business information, and a link to a page on their website, and the presenter's company logo will also be featured on PPG's website page for the research project. Presenters will also receive a badge identifying them as a PPG Pet Training Science Alliance Educator that they can display on their website and social media to show their support for research and science.

Webinar attendees may buy single webinars one at a time or all the webinars in the series. They can also give the webinars as gifts to colleagues and friends. As with all PPG educational events, attendees will earn CEUs for attending the webinars, plus each attendee will receive a special badge identifying them as a PPG Pet Training Science Alliance Learner to display on their website and social media, as well as a certificate to commemorate their support of this groundbreaking research project.

At the conclusion of the project, all stakeholders, including volunteer presenters and webinar attendees, will be invited to attend a free webinar by Dr. Deleeuw where she will share a summary review of the studies and findings.

To kick off the project, Jean Donaldson and the PPG team will discuss the initiative during a Facebook Live event on PPG's Facebook page, scheduled on September 21, 2023.

"I am so pleased that PPG, an organization that represents professionals who are informed by science, guided by empathy and governed by ethics, is helping to fund scientific research that will help us to move our industry forward," said Niki Tudge, PPG president. "It is an exciting project that will hopefully inform us on how to better educate not only pet professionals, but pet parents as well."

Added Jean Donaldson, "The Pet Training Science Alliance is an exciting initiative and this project—to better understand how dog trainers elect how to train—could not be more important."

Industry experts interested in volunteering to give a webinar for PTSA to support this research project are invited to complete a webinar proposal form: https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/clOuwdQE5S.
