Call to Artists for 38th Annual Art Council of SW Florida and Sanibel Captiva Art League Exhibit

Call to artists for Sanibel Captiva Art League and Art Council of Southwest Florida “Patterns” juried visual arts exhibit. All entries must be submitted for judging to BIG ARTS from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, December 3.
SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. - Oct. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Sanibel Captiva Art League and the Art Council of Southwest Florida invite artists to submit original artworks to be considered for the “Patterns” juried visual arts exhibit. BIG ARTS Phillips Gallery will display works in watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed media, collage, sculpture and original prints with “patterns.” All entries must be delivered for judging Tuesday, December 3, from 9 a.m. to noon. The exhibit will be open December 4 through January 15.

Steve Rogers, internationally-renowned watercolor artist and workshop instructor, will serve as judge for this exhibit. A signature member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS) and an Ambassador/Director of AWS as well as a Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society, Rogers was the National Invited Juror for the AWS Annual Exhibition in 2007 and served on the jury of selection. Rogers was also the Chair of the 2010 American Watercolor Society Jury of Awards and his work was featured on the cover of the winter 2007 issue of American Artist’s Watercolor Magazine. His painting Aegean Blue was included in the First Invitational Exhibition of Contemporary International Watermedia Masters at the Jiangsu Watercolor Research Institute in Nanjing, China. Rogers is also a signature member of the Florida Watercolor Society, where he has won 15 awards including three for second place.

Rogers will lead a gallery lecture at BIG ARTS on Rogers Tuesday, December 2, at 2 p.m., while the 38th Annual Juried Art Council of Southwest Florida exhibit reception and awards ceremony will take place Friday, December 13, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Phillips Gallery. The artists reception is free and open to the public awards will be given for first place ($500), second place ($250) and third place ($125) as well as four Merit Awards ($75 each). This juried exhibit will only accept entries from members of any of the organizations in The Art Councils of Southwest Florida or members of the Sanibel Captiva Art League. However, artists may become a member during receiving.
