Latinos In Social Media (LATISM) Awards Finalists Unveiled

LATISM Social Media Awards to recognize those who are making strides in reaching Latinos through social media, from marketing to small business, non-profit and civic work
Oct. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- WASHINGTON, DC - The year's most influential Latinos, brands and community leaders in the social media arena - from parenting, lifestyle and political bloggers to Fortune 500 companies - are among the finalists announced today for the annual LATISM Awards. The awards ceremony will be held during LATISM's Annual National Conference, to be held in Chicago on November 9-11, 2011. Registration for the conference is open at http://conference.latism.org.

The high-caliber and diverse scope of the nominees reflects how the Internet and social media have become the driving force shaping everything from business to Latino daily lives. Now in its 3rd year, the LATISM Awards are the top honor recognizing Latino achievement in the use of blogging, outreach, marketing, mobile and new media.

This year’s nominees were those with the most votes as selected by LATISM members who voted online from September 12 to September 30th. Starting today, thousands of Latinos around the US and Latin America will also help decide via votes who takes home a LATISM Award. The public has until October 30th to vote for the top nominees at http://conference.latism.org/latism-awards/.

Winners will be announced on November 10, 2011 at the LATISM Awards Gala, to be held during the LATISM Annual Conference, in a ceremony sponsored by Toyota Motors USA. The ceremony will be broadcast live online; viewers at home will have a front row seat as the ceremony will be livestreamed.

Many of this year's nominees represent the sweeping impact of Latinos in every aspect of Latino culture, particularly those who are taking strides in social media, from marketing to small business, from non-profit and civic work to community building. Finalists earning multiple nominations include Kmart, the Text4Baby mobile campaign and Univision.

"If you want to check the pulse of Latino burgeoning online culture, look no further than this year's LATISM Awards nominees," said Ana Roca-Castro, LATISM’s Founder and Chair. "Over the past year, these finalists have dominated the social media conversation, changed how the world looks at Latinos and their online savvy, and have created entire new categories for themselves and their businesses."
