July 11, 2011 - PRLog -- Onward Promotions will be presenting the popular 80's band The Motels at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia for a rare east coast performance.  Tusk, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band, and Irish folk singer John Byrne will also be performing as opening acts.

The Motels are a New Wave music band from the Los Angeles area best known for "Only the Lonely" and "Suddenly Last Summer", each of which peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1982 and 1983, respectively. Their song "Total Control" reached number 4 on the Australian charts in 1980. Martha Davis, the lead singer, continues to appear under The Motels with various line-ups.

On August 9th, 2011—The Motels lost album Apocalypso, which was recorded 30 years ago, will be released by Omnivore Recordings. Limited edition orange vinyl versions of Apocalypso will be available.  At the concert in Philadelphia, The Motels will be performing a few songs from the new release but fans will also get to hear their hits and other popular material.

TUSK covers all the great hits of Fleetwood Mac, which has featured the talents of
Mick Fleetwood, Christine and John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks and others
over the years. The Fleetwood Mac story is an episodic saga that spans more than 30 years. It is the saga of a British blues band formed in 1967 that became a California-based pop group in the mid-Seventies. In between came a period where Fleetwood Mac shuffled personnel and experimented with styles, all the while releasing solid albums with chart topping hits such as "Landslide", "Rhiannon", "Go Your Own Way", "Don’t Stop", "Dreams", "Say You Love Me", "Hold Me" and many others. The five seasoned, well-respected musicians comprising TUSK have been making music together in various combinations and styles, in original outfits and in cover bands, for over twenty-five years. It seemed only fitting that they should come together to form the Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute, and pay homage to a group that dominated the charts during the band members' formative years. Fronted by solo artists Kathy Phillips (vocals) and Scott McDonald (guitar, vocals), and supported by veteran musicians Kim Williams (keys, vocals), Randy Artiglere (bass) and Tom Nelson (drums), TUSK takes its audience members on a sweet ride down memory lane. Authentic-sounding and always respectful, TUSK leaves no stone unturned in replicating the sounds of one of the world's best-loved, top-selling bands.

Back when John Byrne was living in Dublin and music was just a side thing, he didn't play Irish music as much as he does now as a Fishtownie. When Byrne was growing up he was fascinated with things American, Bob Dylan in particular. He went on to explore Dylan's influences, people like Woody Guthrie and Ramblin' Jack Elliot and, eventually, carved himself a niche in that line of singing storyspinners. After the Wake (self-released) is his latest collection, so titled to evoke the emotional intensity that ritual brings with it.

World Cafe Live was built on a simple insight: that a place dedicated to showcasing live music should be a place that attracts and inspires live musicians. The result is a three-tiered music hall in which every detail has been designed to optimize the live performance experience, from sight lines, lighting and acoustics to green rooms, equipment access and concierge service.
