Line Drawing, CG, to AI: Integrating Ecological Care and Achieving Creative Freedom

TAOYUAN, Taiwan - June 13, 2023 - PRLog -- Compared to direct AI generation, Dr. Hung-Chih Lu is capable of presenting his ideas from hand drawing to computer graphics and finally to AI while maintaining originality. He does not require complex prompts; just by "rendering input images into realistic photos," he can create highly realistic and closer original creations. It is not about narrowing the scope through prompts and randomly generating with AI. Moreover, even if there comes a day without AI, he can still resort to hand drawing. If drawing software or even computers were unavailable, he could draw on paper, use charred wood as a pen, and utilize walls or floors as canvases. From the micro-level chip design to macro-level city planning, he can single-handedly accomplish it all, truly achieving creative freedom.

In all three creations, the process begins with hand-drawn sketches, followed by computer graphics (2D or 3D), and finally expanded by AI.

The first creation is an industrial design creation titled "Joyful Wander," as shown in Figure 1. It combines the imagery of a blue whale with a sports car in an abstract installation art style. The blue whale is an endangered species still facing hunting. Through his creation, Dr. Hung-Chih Lu hopes to depict the joyful wander of the blue whale on cars, allowing everyone to see the smile of the blue whale and cherish this precious life.

The second creation is a pure art piece called "Confident Smile," as shown in Figure 2. Even today, not only species oppression exists but also class and gender oppression. Through his creation, Dr. Hung-Chih Lu aims to ensure that every life in this world is treated kindly.

The third creation is an architectural design piece titled "Dawn," as shown in Figure 3. It combines a glass greenhouse with a curtainwall building. The main function of the vertical greenhouse of Dawn is to restore endangered flora and fauna, hoping to bring a glimmer of hope to these rare lives. Unlike the previous 2D graphics, this part is created through 3D modeling and rendered by AI, saving a significant amount of time spent on manual rendering.
