According to the Rector of UrFU Victor Koksharov, the university is faced with the task of becoming one of the 350 best universities in the world, 'Our progress is connected with strengthening of the academic reputation: we always receive high scores for this indicator. Moreover, the citation rates of university researchers and the level of internationalization are also increasing. For example, the share of international lecturers has grown, now it is 8.2% of the total academic staff. The number of international students is also growing, there is already 11% of them at our university; they represent 84 countries of the world.' UrFU is also ranked 58th in the QS University Rankings: BRICS 2019 and 43rd in the QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe and Central Asia Ranking; it is also included in the subject rankings in Mathematics, Materials Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Physics and Astronomy, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science and Information Systems, Social Sciences and Management, Arts and Humanities, Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technology. 'The results prove we have chosen the right development strategy, which the university follows paying attention to the quality of scientific research and educational programs,' says the rector, 'It benefits the development of international relations and cooperation with leading scientific centers and universities of the world brining such significant results.' The rector underlined that the university plans are connected with the national project "Science". 'We aspire to create a world-class scientific and educational center "Advanced Industrial Technologies" Ural Interregional Scientific-Educational Center of the World Level "Advanced Industrial Technologies" The center will also focus on education of experts solving scientific and technological problems for breakthrough development in priority areas and improving the competitiveness of the economy. The main mechanism will be scientific cooperation with world centers, academic institutions of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and leading regional and international corporations.
