IRCTC makes travelling in luxury saloon coaches a reality for common man

CONNAUGHT PLACE, India - April 3, 2018 - PRLog -- Enacting upon the idea of giving non-railway personnel a chance to travel in the railway saloons, the Indian Railways has started its first saloon coach. Open for common public, these coaches feature valet service, air-conditioned rooms, swanky look with multi-colored curtains on the widows with a panoramic view, lounge space, dining table, water heater in modular toilet, fans and chairs, well-equipped kitchen and attached bathrooms.

The decision came into action after a meeting, where the matter of promoting the use of luxurious saloons for common public was raised. Analyzing the demand for such kind of travel, Mr. Ashwani Lohani, chief of railway board, suggested the need of at least two saloon coaches.

Earlier, the British emperors in India used the saloon coaches. After Independence, top railway officials in the ranks of divisional railway managers and above, zonal general managers and rail-road committee members were authorized to use them for official purpose. But now, even the common persons can also charter these coaches by paying an amount of 2 lacs.

IRCTC made a statement that the all-inclusive tour will offer its guests all the comforts of a hotel. Exclusive staff will be readily available for providing services onboard. A saloon attendant and an AC attendant will also be present to ensure hassle free travel.
