Oct. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic (K4-MA), the unparalleled industry leader and cornerstone of the Keiretsu Forum angel investment network, reminds all interested parties that the Third Annual East Coast Angel Capital Expo (http://www.keiretsuforum-midatlantic.com/angel-capital-expo) (ACE) is just days away from beginning.  The event kicks off on October 28, 2015 at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Angel Capital Expo has long been famous for the quantity and quality of its panels and discussions and the upcoming 2015 event is certainly no exception. Wade Brooks, MBA from Willamette University, will be presenting "Angel Funding in North America." Along with his partner Robert Wiltbank, PhD, they're also responsible for producing the HALO Report that tracks and documents angel investing activity happening around the world in association with the Angel Capital Association (ACA), a trade association for angel groups. Mr. Brooks' presentation is sure to shed a wide range of valuable new insights on activities happening not just in North America, but all over the planet.

The most recently released HALO Report published a wide range of studies designed to track the type of investments, where they were being made and more, all of which painted a very vivid picture on the state of angel investment today. According to the report, the median seed stage valuations have risen to $3.95 million dollars, which is up 30% over the same valuations from this time in 2014. The state of California also gained an astounding 19.6% share of the total deals that were conducted over the past five years.

Another interesting discovery from the HALO Report is that, when a person parses angel investing activity by groups like "east and west" or "north and south," it is essentially evenly distributed across the United States at approximately 50% by 50%, respectively.

K4-MA has had its own share of headlines lately in the run up to the Angel Capital Expo, most notably for its sizeable investment in Immunomic Therapeutics, Inc. (ITI). ITI is a company responsible for the development of a series of next generation vaccines that are based on the LAMP-vax platform. The return on investment, which was the first portfolio company liquidity event of its kind, was initiated by a $300 million payment from Astellas, a Japanese pharma company to ITI in October, 2015.  This will result in a return to Keiretsu Forum investors of about 10 times the original investment.

ABOUT KEIRESTU FORUM

Keiretsu Forum is a global angel investor network with more than 1500 accredited investor members throughout 39 chapters on three continents.  Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic (www.KeiretsuForum-MidAtlantic.com) consists of four chapters that function as a single entity – Philadelphia, DC Metro, Pittsburgh and New York.  Keiretsu is a Japanese term for a group of organizations with interlocking business relationships, and Keiretsu Forum is a group of accredited investors with interlocking investment interests.  Selected Companies embark on a 4-day road show to visit each chapter in the region.  Keiretsu Forum’s mission is “Great Association with Quality Deal Flow.”

The Mid-Atlantic Region presents approximately five deals a month, 60 a year, to its members and accredited investor guests.  Slightly more than 20 percent get funded, which is significantly higher than the industry average.  Approximately 36 funding applications are submitted each month to the K4-MA DealRoom website, www.K4-DealRoom.com and vetted by industry specialists. About 10 are then vetted by members at monthly screening meetings where they participate in a highly structured presentation-and-feedback-learning session.  Three to four of the screened companies are typically invited to present at subsequent monthly Forum meetings.  Entrepreneurs invited to move forward to the Forum meetings must participate in mandatory professional coaching sessions to optimize the delivery of their presentations and also agree to participate in the road show to all four cities in the region, with exposure to 100+ investors.  Subsequently, information about their companies is posted on the organization’s online global deal room for reference by all 1500+ members.  For global information visit: www.KeiretsuForum.com.
