The SDGs were set to improve the socio-cultural and political standards in the country.

Light the way is a global campaign calling on world leaders to keep their promises as stated in their political mandates to adopt the sustainable development goals (SDGs). In over 100 countries of the world, tens of thousands of citizens united in one voice to ask world leaders to light the way to a better world by 2030.

Citizens of Nigeria assembled at the University of Lagos, Multi-Purpose Hall to call on the Buhari administration to light the way towards taking urgent action to end poverty, inequality and climate change in Nigeria. The event highlighted what the goals are and its implications for the growth of our country.

The campaign featured speakers from ONE Africa, Nigeria Network of NGOs, Save the Children, Climate & Sustainable Development Network of Nigeria, BudgIT, The Future Project, Women Advocacy Research and Documentation Centre and the United Nations Millennium Campaign.

‘’With our digital era, we should not focus only on fashion, music and gossips on social media. We should engage with and keep our leaders on their toes to ensure that the generation after us does not suffer for our inactiveness.’’ said ONE Campaign Country Representative Edwin Ikhuoria.

There are 17 goals bothering on Poverty, Inequality and Climate change. Each of these goals will affect lives worldwide and help determine what the world will be by 2030.
