Rotary Club of Bangalore awards sportswomen of Karnataka as ‘Women of Substance’

 
BENGALURU, India - May 28, 2015 - PRLog -- Bangalore, May 28, 2015: Rotary Club of Bangalore (RCB), an Eighty year old and second largest in India, is part of 106 year old Rotary International, under its Vocational Services which provides platform to rural children to serve through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards. Recently they awarded the sportswomen of Karnataka from various walks of life as, ‘Woman of Substance Award’.

Five sportswomen were awarded for their contribution in the Indian sports scenario.

·         Vidya Pillai: She has bagged many medals in the National and International front, out of which she received the bronze medal in the IBSF World Team Snooker Championship at Sharm el Sheik, Egypt.

·         Pooja Alva: She has created history in swimming after winning more than 300 medals at various national and international level competitions, she went on to participate in the Commonwealth games.

·         Karuna Jain: She is the Vice Captain of the Indian cricket team, has played 4 test series and 37 ODI matches in her entire career.

·         Sahana Kumari: An Indian athlete who competes in the high jump event and holds a record of 1.92 meters.

·         Sharmila Nicolett: She is an Indo-French golfer from Bangalore is a budding golfer from Bangalore.
