By: CCM Information According to CCM’s recent research, China's SG output rose stably to 578,700 tonnes in 2014, with a CAGR of about 8% during 2012-2014. This growth rate was quite lower than the 15% during 2008-2012. Fermentation method and catalytic oxidation method are the two methods applied in SG production in China. The market shares of producers adopting catalytic oxidation method has been greatly squeezed due to its disadvantage in cost when compared with players using fermentation method. The corn price has maintained at a high level for more than three years since 2011, greatly squeezing the profit margin of China's SG players in recent years. Due to its abundant domestic supply, China only imported a small quantity of SG annually for some special applications over the past few years. China's export volume of SG has seen rapid growth during 2012-2014, reaching 117,541 tonnes in 2014, which was about 45% higher than that in 2012.
