BURLINGTON, Ontario - May 21, 2015 - PRLog -- PROFIT and Chatelaine have released their 17th annual ranking of Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs to reveal Emmie Leung, Founder and CEO of waste management company Emterra Group, at No. 15. The June publication of Canadian Business reveals the winners, and the results are also published at PROFITguide.com and Chatelaine.com.

Leung emigrated to Canada and established what is now Emterra Group as a one woman operation collecting recyclables nearly 40 years ago. On many levels, her story is impressive, particularly in what has been a male dominated industry. Leung’s vision is to achieve a world of “zero waste” and realize sustainable resource management.

Translating vision with execution and business success, however, is a key focus in achieving W100 ranking recognition (http://www.profitguide.com/w100).  Female entrepreneurs are evaluated with a proprietary formula that considers the size, growth rate and profitability of the businesses they own and run. Leung has proven successful on all fronts.

"You need a bold vision, an innovative strategy and loads of tenacity to earn a spot on the W100,” says James Cowan, Editor-in-chief of PROFIT and Canadian Business. “Every person on this list represents the pinnacle of business success in Canada. Their stories are inspiring and instructive for those seeking to excel as an entrepreneur."

“I’ve always thought the word ‘can’t’ should be banned from our vocabulary,” Emmie said, adding, “instead I’ve been more inspired by the boundless opportunities embodied in the simple three letter word ‘can’. It guides me in all I do. I am both humbled and honoured to be named a W100 Top Female Entrepreneur in Canada in 2015, and it is my hope that my experience will inspire other women to follow their dreams.”

Emmie has been a pioneer in recycling and waste diversion for four decades and is an avid believer that there is value in everything, even waste. This belief along with Emmie’s entrepreneurial drive has led to other prestigious awards such as the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ 2014 Ontario for Energy and Cleantech, a special citation from the national EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ for her contribution as a pioneer in the waste resources management industry, and the Canadian 2013 Executive of the Year in the large private business category from the Canadian Waste Sector.
