DUBAI HEALTHCARE CITY, UAE - May 13, 2015 - PRLog -- The increasing number and frequency of lifestyle diseases goes hand-in-hand with industrialization and, as life-expectancy in the GCC region increases year on year, so does the demand for long-term care facilities. Leaders in the Middle East are experiencing pressures from the rising population, coupled with ageing demographic patterns. These trends, in addition to the high incidence of non-communicable diseases, result in healthcare demands and challenges that require development of a robust healthcare infrastructure that can sustain efficient and effective healthcare delivery to the entire population.

The Designing Long-Term Care Facilities conference takes place on 9 June 2015 at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre. Delegates will learn about the latest design considerations for enhancing long-term care, as well as the effect of spatial and facility planning for effective operations and on the mobility of long-term care residents.

This conference is part of Building Healthcare Exhibition & Conferences, the regional hub for healthcare facility planning, design, construction and management. This event is organised by Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions.

“To help advance geriatric care in the Middle East, there is an acute need for more sustainable healthcare systems,” says Lisa Stephens, Executive Director, Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions. “Providing on-going care is expensive and governments need to look at ways to partner with private entities to provide more cost effective long-term care.”

The Designing Long-Term Care Facilities conference will discuss key topics such as Health Care Services for the Elderly in the Middle East: Current Situation and Future Aspirations, Long Term Care in a GCC context – Social and cultural challenges, capacity challenges and impact on acute hospitals, Architectural review of LTC facility design – what it means to deliver a holistic care environment, Design for ageing: Long term care best practices from data to design, and much more.
