SPIN for the PAWS- Dogs, bikes and BBQ make for an exciting Saturday in St. Catharines

ST. CATHARINES, Ontario - April 10, 2015 - PRLog -- Dogs, bikes and BBQ make for an exciting Saturday in St. Catharines.  On May 30 people will be spinning to raise funds for the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program, Niagara Region.

Therapy Dogs perform an important service that takes a volunteer and their dog into organizations such as hospitals, seniors' residences or nursing homes on a weekly basis. Through petting, affection, and regular visitation, many people benefit both physically and emotionally from the unconditional love and acceptance of a dog.   Denis Dallaire of the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program says “our therapy dogs help students with their reading needs at libraries and elementary  schools and also visit university and college to de-stress the students at exam time.”

“I am most excited about collaborating with the event hosts, partners and champions of this event during my upcoming trip to Ontario in May 2015,” says Charmaine Hammond, Vancouver professional speaker, author and creator of her PAWS Across Canada Tour.  “Our goal is to inspire a million acts of kindness during our travels, and the kindness and generosity we are seeing with this event is incredible!  I am a champion for animal assisted therapy programs such as the St John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program as our dog Toby Sr was a therapy dog at a mental health facility and I witnessed firsthand the power of healing and support these dogs provide.”

The event is being hosted and held at LIVA Health Centre in St. Catharines May 30 and all funds raised support the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program Niagara.  Event hosts and authors Marybeth Haines and Charmaine Hammond will be providing the spinners with a copy of their books.

Time:  9 am - 2 pm.  (9 am to 12 pm = Spin for the Paws // 12 pm - 2 pm = BBQ, Guest Speakers // 9 am - 2 pm = Fun Events and Vendors and more!)

Registration to the event is $25 which includes a BBQ lunch, gift bag, t-shirt and more this can be purchased even if not participating or can be proxied to another person. To SPIN for the PAWS, participants can ride for 1 hour with  $50 in donation pledges (plus the $25 registration), 2 hours with  $100 in donation pledges (plus the $25 registration per person riding),  3 hours with  $150 in donation pledges (plus the $25 registration per rider), 2 and 3 hours spins can be done with more than one person, team format.  Participants can register with LIVA Health at info@livahealth.ca
