Swedish game studio release a new take on the platform genre for IOS and Android

Jumpy, A little squirrel, needs to find his way home, and it is up to the player to guide him home, jumping across hot lava, eating magic mushrooms, climbing trees, avoiding angry birds and lethal thorns, in this new platform game with a twist.

SKOVDE, Sweden - Feb. 4, 2015 - PRLog -- Sweden, mostly known for IKEA furniture, Volvo cars and various music exports, are now expanding in the area of video game development with well known titles such as Goat Simulator, Minecraft and Pet Rescue Saga, to name a few.

Awesume Interactive, a small indie game studio located in the city of Skovde in Sweden, has released a new take on the classic game genre of platform games.

The game is called "Jumpy the squirrel" and features a little Squirrel-like creature named Jumpy who can jump (obviously), run around, move things and pull levers.

The object of the game is to help Jumpy find the golden walnut that is hidden somewhere in each level, because it will help Jumpy find his way home, as explained in the About-section of the game.

- What makes this game stand out is that you control Jumpy by just a simple swipe anywhere on the screen. We did not want any slow and non-responsive on-screen-joysticks ruining the feeling of the game, Goran Johansson, Creative Director of Jumpy, explains.

- What also makes Jumpy unique is the ability for the player to physically rotate your phone or ipad anywhere in the game, changing orientation from portrait to landscape and vice versa, making it possible to see hidden locations and finding clues on how to gain progress in the levels, Goran continues.

Another thing that differs Jumpy from other game is the deliberate lack of information.

- You know that the golden walnut is in the level somewhere, but not where and not how to get there. It makes the player to think outside the box and use problem solving skills to finish each level.

Apart from more common game items such as magic berries, fruits and mushrooms, the game features a portal system that Jumpy must make use of to gain progress in each level.

- They work almost like the portals from the "Portal" series from Valve, but more simplified and in 2 dimensions, rather than 3 dimensions. It is good to know that the velocity Jumpy has going into a portal, is transfered to the exit portal, Goran explains.

Jumpy the Squirrel was released on Google Play the 19th of January and on AppStore the 29th of January 2015.
