Introducing the New Flexible VaaS-t Solution from Rainbow Global

Neither do you need to ensure other participants have their own compatible conferencing systems. There’s no need for complicated hardware, as any device can be used.

This is a solution that allows you to start a conference on-the-hop using any PC, Mac or Linux device as well as Android or iOS smartphones or tablets over 3G, 4G or wireless networks. It offers the freedom to join or host a virtual meeting any time, any place and collaborate in real time with HD clarity.

How it Works

Rod O'Brien, head of audio visual services, explains how it all works. "Video as a service, or hosted video conferencing, has been around for a while now but up until recently it had a few limitations. It is these limitations we have been working on resolving so we can offer a fully flexible solution making use of all the latest technology available. The one thing that hasn’t changed though is the fact there is no capital outlay: everything is included in a single monthly cost."

"Previously when we set up a hosted video conferencing system for a business, each department would have to have its own ‘8-seat virtual meeting room’ (at £37 per month). It had to be set up on a host PC in a physical meeting room. The downsides were that the meeting room would have to be booked ahead, the meeting arranged in advance and two meetings could not be held concurrently."

Now, however, things are much more flexible. The new solution provides the opportunity to offer access to video conferencing on an individual user basis. Instead of buying a meeting room, you buy individual ‘lines’. Each line is the individual to a seat at a meeting and allows one desktop, iOS, Android or telephone connection.

Businesses can buy as many lines as they need. On average this will be 10% of the total number of employees. Meetings can be held concurrently right across the business.

Rod says, "The number of lines you buy determines how many seats in meeting rooms can be taken at any given time right across the business. You are not limited to 1 meeting room of 10 seats but instead can hold as many concurrent meetings as you like up to the limit of your number of lines."

"It is important to remember that 1 seat is the equivalent of 1 connected device so therefore a call between the London, Norwich and Singapore boardrooms would use 3 seats. As soon as one seat drops from this meeting a line becomes available again for anyone else in the business to use in the same or a different meeting. A point-to-point call will use two lines."

"More lines can be added to the service as usage grows (at £30 per line per month), so maintaining the flexibility. Every user has access to the VaaS-t interface which offers a familiar layout making it simple to use. The interface allows them to see exactly who is on a call and who is available and they can easily set-up scheduled or on-demand meetings with colleagues."
