Jan. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- UNITED STATES — On Tuesday, January 20, 2015, Efographic launched its website to the public located at www.efographic.com. (http://www.efographic.com) Efographic is a web application intended for use by digital marketers and companies that work with email newsletters and infographics.

Infographics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infographic) are long images of data visualization that use creative design to convey information.

The company plans to introduce “efographics” — a new form of digital media that combines the behavior of an infographic with the design of an email newsletter.

“With the advancement of design in email marketing through platforms such as MailChimp, we thought there should be a tool that converts email newsletters into infographics,” said Dave Schools, founder of Efographic.

The web app creates image “snapshots” of an email newsletter resulting in one long, continuous image.

“Once the snapshot of the email newsletter is taken, you’re essentially dealing with an infographic because infographics tend to be long in length as well,” Schools explains. “But then we run into a problem: long images do not share well to social media… how do we fit a long image into a square box?”

Efographic has a formatting feature that allows long content to fit into a box shape through columnizing.

“The Fit-to-Box feature allows viewers to see the entire contents of an infographic or an efographic without scrolling. This is beneficial when sharing to social networks.”

In a Google Consumer survey (https://www.google.com/insights/consumersurveys/view?surv...), 1,020 participants were asked to select which one of three images would make them most likely to click to read an infographic entitled “What Font is Your City?” published by Movoto. The images were 1) full-length scaled down, 2) zoomed into middle (Facebook does this automatically), or 3) fit into box.

The results showed that 49% chose the fit to box answer, 26.3% chose the zoomed into middle answer, and 24.7% chose the full-length scaled down option.

“We have made a tool that can do in seconds what it would take Photoshop 20 minutes,” said Schools. “We think this special feature of Efographic will increase click through rates by 22.7% for digital content companies.”

Montreal-based Crew (https://pickcrew.com), a match-making marketplace for entrepreneurs and tech developers, connected Schools with BubblegumHQ (http://www.bubblegumhq.com/), a web design firm based out of London.

After three months of development, Efographic is ready to be released.

“I’m excited to offer a tool for digital marketers like me,” said Schools, who works full-time in marketing at a real estate development company. “But I’m especially looking forward to seeing how efographics are accepted by the online community.”
