Dublin Psychologist Appointed to British Psychological Society's Testing Verifiers Group

DUBLIN - Nov. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Barbara A. Caska has been newly appointed as the only Dublin-based psychologist to hold office with the British Psychological Society's Occupational Testing Verifiers Group.

The appointment provides Dubliners with a unique opportunity to consult with and train for Occupational Testing qualifications with a BPS Verifier.

Caska met the Society's qualifications for "experience of psychological testing, both in principle and in practice" primarily through her work as co-director of Selection by Design, a Dublin-based business that provides training in occupational testing and consults with clients in developing and using tests for employment decisions.

"Barbara's Verifiers appointment is a great opportunity for Selection by Design to be actively involved with contributing to the field of psychometric theory and testing," said Conor Mc Guckin, co-director of Selection by Design. "We're proud to be able to offer our clients the benefits of cutting-edge knowledge of emergent trends in psychometrics. We believe our trainees, clients and colleagues expect and deserve the best. Evidence and assurance of our ongoing professional development through recognition of our contributions to the field is vitally important."

As BPS Assessors, Caska and Mc Guckin have provided students and professionals in Dublin with occupational test user training through Selection by Design for five years, Conor said.

"It's exciting to receive this appointment," said Caska, "as it adds a unique assurance of expertise on today’s most pressing trends and issues in psychometric testing. Selection by Design has always been committed to upholding and improving standards in psychological testing theory and practice. Now I'll be in a position to contribute to developing these standards for persons working with psychometric tests throughout Ireland and the UK.

Barbara's term of office will commence on 1st January 2015 for a one year probationary period. The appointment can then be extended for a further three years at the discretion of the BPS's Committee on Test Standards.
